The disposal of poles remedially treated with Polesaver Rods and Bioguard should be carried out in the following manner. Wherever possible used poles should be recycled and utilized as car barriers, garden edges, playgrounds, pole houses etc. If this is not possible, any remedially treated CCA or creosote poles should be disposed of at approved land field sites. Any remedial treated natural rounds which have been vacuum pressure impregnated with either CCA or creosote but which have been treated with Bioguard Bandages should have the butt section cut off at 100 mm above groundline. The butt section can be disposed of in an approved land fill site. The remaining pole section can be safely utilized for firewood. For poles treated with Polesaver Rods, cut the butt section off 100 mm above the top treatment holes and dispose of the timber in a similar manner. Any treated timber should not be burned because this can cause the active ingredients to become concentrated in the ash which in turn can be inhaled.
Disposal of Packaging Material
Used Polesaver Rod boxes can be recycled as spare part boxes. Spent polyethylene Bioguard Bandages can be safely disposed of at land sites or alternatively the plastic in them is suitable for recycling.
